AhangProduction 16 Jan 2011 05:39
Hi everyone

I've bought lots of loops. The formats is .MOV
I try to import it in adobe premiere cs5 but it says that it needs codec.
Even Quicktime cannot play it. I get a white screen.

Can you please help me? which plugin or codec is required?

Thank You

Mov is a container, look at the documentation that came with your camera and see if cs5 supports it. You can also contact Adobe, they have great support.

@AhangProduction - what plaform are you using - PC or Mac? Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed? Did you check your files on another computer?

@dapoopta - he is not a photographer - he is a buyer.

Try to install http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm - this package contains most of the codecs

@AhangProduction,

what is the codec of the .mov files that are giving you a problem ?

You can determine this by opening the inspector window in Quicktime OR if you purchased them here you can find the codec info by mousing over the info icon on the clip's page here at Pond5. You can find this icon ( a lower case letter "i") next to the price.

@wideweb - I'm using a PC and I have QuickTime 7.6. VLC Media Player can play it. I've even converted with Any Video Converter to Uncompressed AVI since I don't want to lose quality, but even the converted file can't be opened in Premiere Pro. It says File format not supported or damaged.

@postquis_design - I don't completely understand you... But QuickTime does not tell me what codec. and here's one of the file I've bought. https://www.pond5.com/stock-footage/747030?pf_fullscreen=1

@AhangProduction,

The codec of that file is h.264 .... it would seem that you didn't have that codec installed initially on your system. the link Zygistudio provided most likely included that codec for you.

FYI... on the clip page you linked.... if you look at the area right below the player window.... you will see the price.... to the right of the price is a graphic of a lower case letter " i ".... an abbreviation for information.... if you hover your mouse over it a pop up window appears listing information about the clip.... this is where you can can find the codec that was used to compress the clip.

hope that helps for the future..... good to hear you got it working !
