HD video pricing

Since V2 is"almost" ready for a Sept launch maybe a suggestion on HD video pricing. It's been discussed forever but not in the regard to a V2 total make-over.
Is it time to increase minimum pricing on HD video to something like $30. Shouldn't hurt anyone at that of a low price but helps protect our industry. SS and IS both raised prices significantly and increased profits for both artists and agency. RS is strongly considering doing the same. Raising HD prices from the bottom feeder price of $10 to $30 should result in a very substantial pay raise for P5 as a company. When SS and IS raised theirs many I've talked to saw several hundred percent increase in monthly paid commission. Don't need to go to SS of $79 or IS at $150 plus but a bottom of $30-40 ... from my experience a plus across the board.
Leave SD at $5 for advertising purposes ... need a carrot for some buyers ;)

Please $30 I agree. I would be so happy if P5 does this.

I don't think some of the categories, like the vast amount of graphics and backgrounds, support a minimum price even if you want to arbitrarily declare one. There are just too many of them. Let clips sink or swim like the commodities they behave as - especially here at Pond5 (really almost a non-curated crowd sourced model). That's capitalism. Your job is to make clips that sell - not protect prices from competition. Attempts to create walled gardens will only drive buyers out to gardens without walls - as is Pond5s relationship historically to the old stock photography companies. Everyone wants to protect what's theirs, ah, once they get there. VOTE NO! to 30 buck minimum. Please send hate mail to my iStock address, thanks!

Sorry but I do not like the cheap traitor! We do business here, no hobby sales!
I vote CLEARLY for a minimum of $30 (or above) for HD-Clips. Graphics and backgrounds? If you have good, creativ and/or complex ones, they sell with a much higher price. Most of the super cheap clips (here) DID NOT SELL on a higher price!
A simple proverb is: If you buy cheap, you have to buy twice.
Yust my 2 cent.

There are many ways to skin cats - one at a time, or in bulk. $65 or $10. Either one, sends cash into your PayPal account. It all depends. Competitive pricing is a tool you can use to move your clips - unless the marketplace operates on some various mysterious rules I cannot see. I refuse to close my brain. Traitor, bottom-feeder - I proudly wear the tags you have given me. Think up some more. While your at it, read my http://www.stockvideoseller.com/public_html/topics/pricing-stock-footage-to-se.html

Hate to tell you this TMP - but your theory about ranking is totally wrong. (Yes, I read your Pricing Theory thing) - Unfortunately that is not how the ranking works. Nice try though. I base this simply on one fact and one fact only... it is the same concept as all those people constantly offering the "top search engine spot" - if everyone had that, then it would fail, which it does and it is an impossibility. Also if your theory was true - I wouldn't be able to sell a thing at my pricing. Someday this dead horse will for sure be dead as it is once again being beaten. :)

Vanderman, you're gonna need to site more that your particular sales to present a convincing position to me. What you site as "fact" isn't - it's a very small (in the sense of one persons) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anecdotal_evidence experience. I don't see your presentation as actually referring to anything other than what you state - which is a reliance on your experience. Which is the problem with this eternal thread. In other words, unsubstantiated opinion. Maybe it's a good guess. Respectfully, I don't think so. Nor did you actually argue your position. I'm all ears. Facts can be presented and proven. Again and again. I'm waiting.
http://www.orlowskidesigns.com/yearend/2011/ are facts. When the facts evolve, I evolve. I am trying to make business choices based on facts - or the best I can figure them out. The issue with this whole tired argument, is the darkness of the data on the buyers / sales from the sellers end. We can't see or tabulate what's happening. I can't see and examine your sales to know and compare to lots of others sellers to see the trend in sales. If we had that, we could make grand statements and have informed opinions.
I do know, between the time I posted and read your reply, I made three sales on footage which was otherwise not moving two weeks ago. I re-priced and re-titled the clips. Is it price? My guess is it is. But it's just a guess. If you make enough of those sales, daily, weekly, it contributes to a successful income.
I recognize people are concerned about maximizing revenue with each sale. Me too. But not being able to think about price because of strong opinions doesn't make you a better businessperson.

If you are saying that graphics should be allowed to be ten dollars, then ok...
I don't think they should allow less than $30 HD video. I think there are very few that do think so. It is too expensive to produce.
My wish is that P5 has a reputation for quality not quantity. If there is a site for $10 clips, I hope this isn't it.
