Clip bin thumbnails

varius 4 Dec 2008 11:29
Currently it seems that the thumbnails for clip bins are created showing the first 16 clips that are added to it. Don't know about you folks, but with me the first set that goes into a clip bin tends to be a similar setting making the thumb a bit boring in the long run.

Also, I think the thumbs are not recreated when clips are removed from the bin. That could result in a thumbnail that shows a clip no longer in the bin. Not sure about this one though - I think I've had one of those, but can't find it anymore.

Could this be changed so that once 16 clips are exceeded the thumbnails show a random selection of the clips? It might be good enough to rerender the thumbnail only when new clips are added/removed and no more than once a day. Guess that would make the thumbs more interesting in the long run without taxing the servers too much.

Alternatively you could allow us to choose the clips displayed there, but I guess that would be quite a lot of work to add that feature - maybe not worth the hassle...

Bump?

My subscription to comments and suggestions was a victim of ruthless unsubscribe link testing a few weeks ago. :-/

We've made it randomize the icons in the bin icon. This change will go live tomorrow morning (in the Glorious Republic of GMT+1) or possibly this weekend.

okay and I thought I was the blonde one...at the bottom of the page you should see a tool bar that says clip bin (grey area next to blue cart)

Hit new bin, it will ask you to name it. From your upload page select the clips you want in the bin and then select add to active bin from the pull down (same pulldown you use to submit, etc). Once clips are in bin, I click on edit on the bottom toolbar and check the public box in the top right hand corner. You're clips are now more visible to the world.

Ouch... just noticed you need a rather wide browser window. If the window is too small the "new" button dissappears below the "maximize" button.

Oh burn, ouch Kim. Thanks for the help, though. Now lets see the new clips already!
