Item views/download count?

KristopherFisher 8 Nov 2013 00:18
Hi guys!

Just a quick one, am I right in thinking the page views of an item resets each day? For me my items get views but then the next morning when I check they are back at 0 or lower than the day before, so can I assume they reset each day? Also is this the same for download counts?

Additionally is there any analytical data we can see? Like a graphical representation of item views over a period of time, and if possible where they have been referred from?

Thanks in advance!
Kristopher

Checked again this morning and views have reverted to 0 again, anyone have any ideas? :)

I've observed the exact same issue for months with no insight. Views on the actual clip page but they do not show up on the uploads page. And yes, there one day, gone the next.

There have been general problems with that data for some time and you never know when its working or what you can trust. I've had sales and ATCs with no views.

I've sent numerous e-mails about this with no response.

No response? Uh-oh, I'm new here and was really hoping P5 would have a active support team. :/
So basically there is no way of us tracking page views etc?

Views have been totally unreliable for a long time. There are many clips that have sold once or twice or maybe more with zero views. The views used to work, sadly not trust worthy any more. Many speculate they only update every three views. No real answer. I believe if a clip sells even once the views should indicate it was looked at. Oh well ... just worry about sales. that is all that matters. Good luck.

So under the 'uploads' tab, where you can see your stats per item, can you even trust the 'bin' or 'cart' adds? I mean surely if someone puts something in their cart then they are about to buy it? I have only been here for a few days but already have some as in 'cart' perhaps the buyer fell asleep at the keyboard :)

The 'cart adds' data is reliable I think. However, just because someone adds it to the cart does not mean it will get sold. I have a couple of clips that have be ATC several times with no sales. Anyone can ATC. You do not have to be logged in or registered to do that. I got excited when I uploaded my first 40 clips and had an ATC the next day. It turned out to be a friend of mine who was looking at my clips and hit the button by mistake.

The good news is that generally I find that when someone does ATC it gets sold. But it can take a day or two to go through. I assume it may be because they are shopping for more clips plus I'm sure it takes P5 a day to process.

Just be patient and keep uploading. Sales will come to those who wait - and have good media :)

Your stuff is excellent by the way.

We talked about add to cart many time over the years. It appears than on an average about 50% of cart or maybe a little less ends in a sale. Some buyers use the cart to hold selections like a bin. Don't get discouraged if you only get 30-50% cart to sale.

I find the cart adds to be very useful. I routinely scan my cart adds just to get an idea of what might have sold. A few do fizzle out and give you a false hope, but for the most part they've been pretty accurate in predicting sales. I don't pay attention to much else.

I think it takes a few days to go through because the customer has so many days to return it for a refund. Too bad we couldn't know which clips were refunded. I have one clip with about 17 cart adds and only 6 sales, I wonder if people are either buying it and finding something about it they don't like, or are they downloading it and somehow photoshopping out the logo.

having a refund due to quality issues would be nice to know. Most of us could re-submit a better or slightly different version that might be better.
