Weather protection for FX1000

Anyone have any recomendations for protecting the camera in fowl weather.

Bad weather is when you can get some of the best clips.


There has to be a resonable way to protect the camera without spending $600.

I used a garbage bag and tape. :-)
I wouldn't have done it normally but there wasn't anything open....for a few weeks.

I have a rain cover for mine but it's a pain in butt to put on so I use a sheet of clear plastic and tape it round the camera. Now that's cheap!!!!

Cool Now if I can just figure out which one will fit the FX1000. I see that they have a FX1 rain cover.

Mike, go back into Portabrace.com and on the left side key on the rain ICON. They have prices listed for most camera but there not cheap. I have a rain cover that came with my PD170 and it's useless and a pain to put on and doesn't fit well at all. It's also useless when the camera is mounted on a tripod which 99% of my clips are taken from. As I mentioned before if it rains I put a sheet of clear plastic over it and tape it down. It may look tacky but who cares I sure don't

Jason, What do you do about the lens? I purchased a UV filter that I put in place when I took the snow shots as the snow was blowing but thats not much protection when its pooring rain.

Mike, with the rain cover i never used they had a plastic shield with velcro that attached over the lens cap as an extention. When a highschool graduation in the rain i put a clear sheet of plastic over the camera and type it around the lens cap and body of the camera. Now I didn't have a problem with rain on the lens as it sits back far enough to keep the rain off.

I noticed that your're using a UV lens. I know what there used to cut haze but I have used one on my camera as I don't think there's enough room between the lens and the cap. I do use a P series cokin polarizing filter and modular hoods which gives better definition as cuts sun glare of course you have to remove the lens cap install it.
