Information for Newbies!

Hello Pond5 Community!

I have just recently joined, started a profile, and uploaded a few clips. I am finding my way around a bit, but, at first was a little lost. For example, I thought I was doing something wrong in encoding and uploading because my previews looked so bad, but once I read a few old threads learned that preview files are of lower quality when first submitted.

So, my question to you guys is this:
With your experience, what kind of information is good to know right off the start for "newbies" to Pond5?

Stay away from Jake, kk5hy.

There are a lot of neat things you can do in the upload page, like copying info from one clip to another, setting up templets, etc. Make sure you take a look at that and ask for help if needed.

Please don't listen to Scott. I am one of the good guys here. (mostly)
Scott gave some good advice. Offhand I can't think of anything else that would help out other then keep your portfolio diverse. We never know what people want so have a number of different subjects.
Something I keep telling Scott but he doesn't listen. :-)

I took a look at your portfolio and you are at a great start. Love the beach shots.

Also, check if the preview icon is representative for your clip. If not, you can change it with the "still frame offset" on the edit page.

Do not trust this man. He tells you that after 10 weeks you will be worry free, but that only occurs when you start paying $300. It only escalates.

I see the usual lot have scurried out of the woodwork to welcome you. We're a good bunch, I'm sure you'll find your way around soon enough, don't hesitate to ask questions. Between smart ass remarks, this bunch will give you some good feedback and tips.

Well, thanks everybody... I can see what a fun group you are! I'm really excited about getting into stock footage online and this looks like a great place to do it.

I guess I need to work with Don to get in on the collection of $150/week for the first 10 weeks. How long before I'm let in on that 'secret'? ;)
