What are some of the methods people use to promote their content here on Pond5? I'm spending more time shooting clips and am wondering if there is way to increase traffic for my work. Thanks

Advertise on YouTube. Post your videos and add your own watermark by typing something on your editor and lowering the opacity. This way, a thief cannot steal your footage. Then in the description of the video, put a buying link to your pond5 video.

I don't really get how youtube advertising works. Are there producers or production companies or networks that are looking for footage at youtube at all?Unless you sent reels left and right like they are c.v's...?Google search as far as i've noticed provides results directly to shutterstock and pond5 to people who search for footage.

I make websites for each of my "niche" topics. My thinking is to make as many outlets as possible that lead to my clips. I also use statcounter.com to track my sites' activity, such as who visit what pages, how long they stayed, and most importantly, how they came to find my sites. Below are just a few examples of my sites:

http://www.niagarafallsstockfootage.com
http://www.establishingshots.net
and my "main" portfolio site, http://www.orlowskistock.com
Good luck!

Great work James! I think doing something like this is an awesome idea, and you seem to have a cookie cutter technique for it. Since you didn't post the link I'll shamelessly promote for you a little :-) : http://www.mypond5portfolio.com/info.html
I think people who have clip bins already could easily pump out a few sites using this template fairly quickly.

This discussion thread gave me the idea to make a website to promote my small but increasing collection of water-related clips, thanks for the inspiration!

It's been up for a couple of months now but the website traffic is really small. I guess the next step would be promoting the website that promotes my video clips. :)

This water footage site looks good, but same experience here when I had a site up to promote clips last year: almost no traffic.

he he, when you'll have a website to promote your P5 portfolio, don't forget that you also have to promote your website! ;)
