Any tips how to shoot the solar eclipse with AX100

Has anybody tips how to shoot the solar eclipse with Sony AX100?
It's expected that Friday morning between 9:30 and 11:00 o'clock the sun will be covered up to 65% to 85% in Germany. Not sure if my cam becomes damaged when i try to shoot it 2 hours nonstopp.

Just don't!
You need a Sonnenfilter for telescopes or your CMOS chip will hate you :-)
Siehe Astroshop.de oder ähnliches.

I hoped the camera will automatically lower the incoming light of the early sun and any in-camera settings will help, .... in any way like when i cross the sun by shooting a panning clip! :(

What about ND filter?

ND does not stop the IR radiation from the sun. It might work for short clips but if you plan to shoot longer it will produce enormous heat inside the CMOS/CCD chamber without proper filtration.

Ok, so i don't want go in risk, thanks for the info Daniel.

You may be able to source it locally at a hobby type shot or photo shop.

Danial

What about Photo T/L every 5 seconds, so the shutter is not open all the time? So the heat will be much less. I will try it in a short period, like 5-10 minutes.

@patuwe97 Yes I've done timelapses of the sun with my old Canon EOS 20D + ND8 filter over a period of 15 minutes and yes it still works. Of course I don't know how newer sensors behave because they're much more sensitive. I wouldn't risk my new 4K video camera for such footage without proper filtration. Same goes with shooting laser shows in clubs it's not worth damaging your "new" camera. Try with old equipment first if you're not sure or don't have the filtration :-)

I don't recommend it without a solar filter. Even time lapse is precarious. When I shot the last solar event (the venus transit), I not only used a solar filter on the lens for the purpose of protecting the sensor, but also to help protect the lens itself. I also covered the front of the camera with aluminum foil which kept it cool enough to not overheat and shut down. We were shooting in 107F ambient desert heat, so every bit helped.
