Any feedback on my videos? (getting very low sales)

Hi everyone,

I have been on pond5 for almost a year now. I have uploaded my best footage during the last 6 months. My portfolio is over 2500 clips but I'm getting really low sales (3 a month if I'm lucky)

Can anyway tell me how you do it to sale more clips, or if there is something wrong with my clips? Something that I'm doing wrong and that I should change?

I don't see nothing wrong with your clips tmb,many artists are complaining for slow sales from the beginning of 2015...i guess it'll about pond5 management...

Same for me, i come close to 5000 clips and don't sell more than 6 per month in between. :((

You have a nice portfolio, but many of your clips are from the same sequence with relatively little variation. For instance, I see 16 nearly identical clips of a cat in slow motion. I would try to focus more on filming different subjects than uploading (too) many clips that are similar. Just my personal opinion of course :)

wow. i am glad i read this.. i have been trying to get my sales up, too.. i have about 700 clips and usually sell about 4-8 a month.. but kind of scary to think i could upload 4000 more clips and not have more sales.. yikes.

ps.TMB, i just checked out a few of your clips.. i noticed your prices are higher than mine.. most of my clips are priced at $45.. that probably helps.

I guess so Taragolden, but the thing is that I had the prices lower but still nothing.. and not all of my clips are expensive. It is very strange... sales have just dropped completely.

Lowering price doesn't help at all...i get higher income since i raise price... and when everyone has lowered their price at 10$ are you going to set your footage for free??

Hi TMB! I would have to agree with stefhoffer - there are so many clips that are really really similar that you really only have about 200-250 clips with different subject matter. I think it would make sense to only upload 2-3 clips from the same sequence/session.

You also seem to have filmed at least some of the clips (didn't check all) with a very high shutter speed, making them not look like film. The general rule is to shoot at double the framerate - meaning a shutter speed of 1/50 if you shoot 25fps. Pretty much always.

But just like in the stock music scene, what you need is:

1. Commercial value.
2. A big portfolio with variety for steady sales. I think this is more important for footage than music.
3. Patience. Lots of patience.

Thank you for your feedback. I checked what you said about the shutter speed and I always do it at the double the fps... it's strange what you say about the look of my clips. I will check them out again and see.
I will also reduce the amount of repeated clips to see if that helps!
