Dad passed away

Many here know that my Dad had a heart attack nearly three weeks ago and never left the hospital. This afternoon after fighting a difficult fight he passed away. He was 81 years old and married to my Mom for 57 years.

He was in the US Army as a paratrooper during the occupation of Japan, served a mission for his church in Australia for 5 years building new churches (our family went with him). An avid outdoors man, hunter, fishing and loved camping; a very strong man. He was a cancer survivor, had hip replacements, gal bladder removed, eye surgery and more. He was a generous man who would have given his shirt off his back to anyone.

Four days after a pacemaker and defibrillator was implanted in his chest, and our hopes were up, he was relieved of his pain. He was happy, friendly, talkative and had a great sense or humor and memory up until he was called home. I will miss him dearly, he was my hero who I always wanted to be like. I love him dearly.

My sympathies Don. I know what it's like to lose a Dad. Not easy, but just remember all the good times you had together.

My heartfelt sympathy Don.
I have been contributing to Pond 5 for over two years now, never did get to post any comments, but I would read them all the time. Over the two years I have got to know and respect your views and wisdom, as with many more on Pond 5.
