Hi Pond5'ers !
After uploading new 4k quality clips after a trip in Hawaii (on volcanoes), I was wondering what was the good price for them.
I read some people saying : "Put 100$ , because otherwise people will think that the quality is not good"
For that I disagree because the preview is rather good quality to juge , no ?
And some other say "Put very low price and so you will sell more time the clips"
And finally make more money at the end of the day...
BUT first to judge you have to see the clips I'm talking about.
This is a link that show only my new uploaded clips :
https://www.pond5.com/fr/stock-video-footage/1/raw-4k-lava-flow.html#1
I decided to go for 49$ for 4K versions.
Now I think it's perhaps a little bit to low, but on an other side I don't want to miss sales because some people simply doesn't have the budget ....
I would be very interested on having a maximum feedback on prices an so then we could all make an average on what people are looking for or wants or needs or are ok to pay , etc...
In advance thank you very much for your participation to this discussion and answers !

For what it's worth, other agencies ask a set price of $199 for 4K clips. Mine are available at Pond5 mostly for prices between $120 and $150. Your lava clips seem great and I wouldn't put them up for a bargain like you've done now. Good luck!

Thank you for your answer "Stefhoffer" ! ;o)
That's a first point for let's say above 100$ :
Let's do score like this : Under 50$, under 100$, Above 100$.
So for now :
UNDER 50 : 0
UNDER 100 : 0
OVER 100 : 1

I priced 4K and HD same price--much over 100$.
Priced it at other agency requested: $199. minimum.
Great shot like lava I would ask even more. There is not many competitor in the pond. ;o)

im not on the video side, bur regarding prices, i think it's generally best to price slightly above average.
or, if you dare, not 'just' slightly :D
lowering prices in order to catch some customers i don't think works all the time.
changing prices a lot, i noticed, on sfx, that the earning i made with low prices were not so much bigger than with high prices. high prices brough pretty much the same, and sometimes more sales than low prices. the psychological impact does exist, and maybe (i don;t know) there are people that don't look at the preview first, but filter their search results from the start, so that they display only clips higher than a certain price (dismissing from start those low priced, not actually looking at them in the results page). people paying more are different than people paying less, and there is a market, there are ppl who will buy even if higher priced.
i would say that now, given your total number of clips and the effort you put or continue putting in expanding your portfolio, you should think of what is the price that would bring satisfaction to you. meaning, think at what price you would be satisfied when seeing a sale notification email. price so that you feel comfortable with the earnings - so don't price to 'catch' some buyers or to 'not miss sales'.
price so that you are comfortable with your 50%.
