We'd love feedback on our new Music List View!

Hey guys,

Earlier this week we launched a revamped music search page, which now displays results as a list view instead of grid view. This has been a long time coming and it brings our UX to where we think it needs to be…although, keep in mind this is very much a V1; a bunch of tweaks and additional phases are forthcoming. Most exciting will be the introduction of the dropdown menu for associated tracks, but that’ll be a few months, as there’s significant tech work to be done. In the interim we’ll be adding filters for genre, BPM, tempo, looping, vocal/instrumental, and that will fill in some of the blank space you’re seeing for each result.

We’d love to hear your feedback! Please play around with it and let us know what you think. Music sales this week have been strong so far, which is encouraging.

You can check out the new results page here: https://www.pond5.com/music/1/.html#1/2064

Is it possible to add default state of sorting on artist page for visitors? I want to show new tracks on my page.

Hi Mike,
It is good. I did some tests and it is working fine. It is a nice improvment.

Hi Mike, I think it's great. I especially like the immediate visibility of full music titles and artist names. Looking forward to the next updates!

Hi Mike,
Good job, i like it!
Mike, are you planning do the same with sound effects category?

Hi, Mike. When did this feature add exactly? Because my views have decreased dramatically for the past 10 days.

Hi Mike!
I think that your grid view was of your advantages compared to other sites. So easy to listen to a lot tracks when you just need to hold the mouse over a track and easy to scroll down the infinite page.

Hi guys, appreciate all of the feedback. It's incredibly helpful.

@JGaudio: No immediate plans to roll out for SFX just yet, but we'll discuss this further.

@Epikton: We launched the new List View last Monday, September 11th. As we're now displaying more information on the initial search results page (including artist name, price, duration, PRO status, and, most importantly, the ability to play the track much more easily than before), Item Page views are expected to go down, although that won't necessarily correlate to less artist sales. We'll be monitoring how many cart adds / sales are made from the main search results page, and we expect more transactions to happen that way moving forward. So far, sales have been up!

@stephanlindsjo: That may have the *only* advantage of Grid View, and honestly I think it's a little superficial. Data tells us that the vast majority of sales were coming from the first "page" on Grid. We're currently displaying approx. four results "above the fold," (before you have to scroll down), and while I think we can minimize the List View somewhat to display more results (and also potentially add infinite scroll), this new display is more in line with how most customers purchase music overall . The "hover over" method also added problems for buyers who couldn't open another tab and preview a video along with the music track; now they can do that.

Thanks again, guys, and let's keep the conversation going!

Mike, is there any chance to add "play count" feature, so we can see how many plays each of our items have?
