Spaming the Pond

Is that ok and acceptable???

I just discovered a clip here which has less than 10 sec and not only 1 of it's keywords is belonging to this clip, even not the name of the camera with which it's done.
This guy (i don't want to note his name) has more than 3000 clips and as it seems most of them are in this pattern.
More about this his clip is part of a bin which is also absolutely not belonging to the theme.

We all know, uploading clips and make the description for every one is a lot of work, ... beside the rendering and we have to be creative with keywords and promotion.

But what are the curators doing here? Are they blind?
I remember that here are a minimum rules which we should follow with our clips (length), describing and keywords.

I think such spam is destroying the business for everyone of us who tries to do a correct job.

If you feel that he is spamming send the info to the P5 crew with clip IDs by contact us or E-mail.

Some maybe agency collections where attention to keywords is slight during mass uploads

More then likely the artist is using templates but that is no reason to spam.

The worst thing I can see here is that those 3000 clips were accepted without curating (if Beckhusen's findings are correct).

It's not my intension to blame somebody direct, but if clips with only 6 or 7 seconds and complete wrong unbelongable keywords can appear here, then something is going absolutely wrong and there maybe several other artists may handle in the same way.
Maybe unlikely i didn't notice the artist's name (have other things to do), but my findings were 100% surely correct. More about this, he's member here just a little bit more than 1 year and has much more than 3000 clips online here. How shall that go if you make a correct job?
I hope the curators will read here also to have a better look in the future.

There is intentional and unintentional keywording which leads to spamming. I have seen top sellers and/or top agencies have titles and keywords that have nothing to do with the clip; yet somehow the clip is found and purchased. I believe that the new "My uploads page" was design intentionally so that members could see their keywords and correct them more easily. I also believe that some members are going to the most used keyword list and just placing them in their keyword listing even if they have nothing to do with their clip. I think that the problem is to big to be solved. It had to be solved in the beginning when P5 started. Now it is too late when you have almost a million clips to review. Then you have the factor that members can spam after a clip is approved and you cannot take the privilege away from a member to change and improve keywords after a clip was approved.

Personally, if one of my clips were spamming I would like to know. I would not feel bad if a member told me so. I would go and correct the file without hesitation. After a thousand clips you loose track of what is going on. You even loose track on how many ducks you have shot ;-).

I agree with Jason that templates increases the chance of spamming. I use templates a lot and continuously I have to review my keywords after I apply a template. You can reduce spamming by eliminating templates but templates are so helpful, I would not like to see them gone.

The main issue here is to help Buyers find what they want quickly. If it takes to long, they will search somewhere else. Spamming is a chronic Quality Control problem. When a company is making a lot of money they tend to not pay attention to chronic problems. Its jusk background noise.

P5 should have some sort of "Ticket Center" to report many problems such as spamming.

I never got the idea that somebody will start spaming with keywords after the clip is approved :() In this case i'm sure that the artist never tried to make a professional job, because there were much of such extreme short clips.
So or so, i gave him a comment that none of his keywords is belonging to what i see.

@luxor It is not true that P5 cannot pull a clip for re-tagging after it has been approved. But it is kind of hard to tell someone that all 3000 + clips have to be re tagged before they can go back online. Here's what Tom had to say about this matter:

More then likely the artist Beckhusen is referring to is the same artist who put this clip 1095232 a while back. And yes I turned this clip in.

??? I didn't refer to the clip with this number.
