Why the Handle?

RekindlePhoto 16 Jun 2008 22:34
Ok, there are lots of us aspiring artists here and very few use their real name but instead a handle or business name. So lets hear why you chose the handle you use. If your parents chose your P5 name ... it must be a great handle too. Don't forget to incluse your real name also.

PhantomEWO.
I retired from the USAF as a Major. My "Job" was flying the F-4 Phantom II supersonic jet fighter. I have a little over 2000 hours in her. I was an Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO) so that's my handle ... PhantomEWO.

'klipper' is Danish for editor. Literally 'cutter', as in film cutter.

Most of my work is in the great outdoors so I figured "skylight" covers just about anything going on out there.

Mine is most boring, just from my name and lastname.

Stef-an Go-ttschild

I chose it already 2 years ago when I joined the o-SS-er place and then didn´t want to change it here at P5.

Cheers,
Stefan

This was something I was wondering about too. Thanks for bringing it up Don.

I'm a amateur radio operator. My call sign is kk5hy
I've talked to people by voice or morse code (yes, people still use that) in every state and most countries of the world at one time or another.

I even got to use it for a couple of my clips.

Jake I thought that was in reference to a radio signal, is it short wave .. You must have a ham radio license, right?

My name is obviously my company name, but its originally the name of a program I wrote in high school in C++ code ...It was an 'AI' program, or at least it could fake it really well. Thats why in the past, my avatar was always a robot ...I wanted to name the program something powerful sounding, so I thought of the name ironstrike because it evokes power,,, the program was very adaptive and could "learn" a lot. It could rewrite itself and recompile parts of itself. Almost like a nasty virus, but it wasn't malicous... But I ended up getting more interested in making computer graphics than computer programs.

Yes, I have the adavanced class licence. There are 4 classes of licence you can get. Each licence gives you added frequences that you can operate on.

Short wave is around the 160 to 40 meter band (1.6-7 megahertz) and that is where you can talk around the world, but you can operate up in the gigahertz.

I sold all my transmitters and radios about 4 years ago when I moved in an apartment. The landlords kind of frown on you erecting the kind of antenna's you need for this. I'll get back in it one day.
