@johnnyz I think you need to check webster's definition. Boat: small open water craft. Ship:any large vesselnavigating deep water.

Even though I want to say "Oh Phooey!" to that, I must agree....the distinction is valid.

Nautical Know How website definitions:

BOAT - A fairly indefinite term. A waterborne vehicle smaller than a ship. One definition is a small craft carried aboard a ship.

SHIP - A larger vessel usually thought of as being used for ocean travel. A vessel able to carry a "boat" on board.

HOWEVER....in the spirit of good fun and fair play, not to mention a nod to the threadstarter, heed:

phantomewo says:
Ok, here is the place to show your best VIDEOs of boats. The main subject must be a BOAT. Not a boat in the background, not something that might be a boat, the number one subject must be a boat. A boat can be a ship, skiff, rowboat, canoe, kayak, tanker but must be a boat. Show your best BOAT. Again no discussion just art ;)

So what are we talking about it for?

jason 8 Aug 2011 06:39
Now this is a boat not a ship

Mizamook 8 Aug 2011 07:17
Oh aye...but here is a clip with two boats, although one can carry a boat, but is not a ship...

Is Jason arguing on what is a boat? Well Jason in Engineering bouyancy terms this is also a boat. In St. Thomas the crew is topless. In St. Marteen the crew is complety naked. I am sure the crew will gladly explain you how this boat floats. ;-)

From the person that started this thread: "A boat can be a ship, skiff, rowboat, canoe, kayak, tanker but must be a boat."
