Mikesafilmer, you say you have an SFX sale every other day yet you have a few thousand files uploaded. What hope have I got with just over 1000 !!!

A few thousand??? I only have around 150 sfx on P5 right now! I wish I had a few thousand. Maybe you meant hundred... Either way, yes, if you have quality SFX, I assure you they will sell!

I have around that much now and have had no sales. Your doing well if you get one every other day.

I now have over 300 files but yet just one sale. Is my pricing wrong ?

Marbury,
I won't go into pricing, as you get to decide what is fair (taking into account the money it costs for your equipment, time, rent, editing, keywording, etc. etc.), however just know that it generally takes up to 6 months for clips to start selling (now, with that said, the fastest sale I had was after 2 weeks of uploading! Pure luck....) Anyways, apparently it takes awhile for the keyowrding to reach search engines like google, so if a potential buyer is looking for sounds, your won't pop up until they've been online for awhile. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, I just remember reading something like this on P5 awhile ago.

The sounds are good, and I would just suggest keeping the sounds diverse and uploading more. The worst that can happen is you'll get only a few sales, but have patience, and more will come so long as your quality is kept high!
Good luck!

So to have SFX download in the first 2 weeks of going live I am doing ok ;-) I can't see why it would take 6 months. People who buy come to Pond5 so not sure where Google comes into it.

I will just keep uploading my library though it takes a long time with keywording too. I should have done this a long time ago instead of sticking to the major microstock site.

I'm convinced now that Marbury is an elaborate troll job. How long before he starts uploading stock footage and starts asking "ok, I've uploaded 2 videos...at what point will I become a millionaire?" Ok, I've uploaded 4 videos, can anyone see in to the future and tell me when I will sell something and what day it will happen on?
Marbury 28 Sep 2010 09:07
No idea what you are referring to as"Troll" except in Lord Of The Rings so it's over my head.

I have had another SFX sale so perhaps I am well on my way to being a millionaire after all !

The google comes in when potential buyers type in "explosion sound effect" or "door close sfx", etc. into a search engine, where the P5 clips can pop up.
