Introducing the 5D Mark III

I'm with you Jake. Do some hands on testing at NAB, then see if I can justify the money for the upgrade.

Technology will get better and the 'next best thing' will always be the most expensive. I paid $2800 for my Mark II also. Hopefully we can sell them for at least $1800..but I guess we will see.

Anyone want to buy a Mark II ???? :-)

I would not offer over a grand for used MarkII's - there is so much more to come I am sure. We will see at NAB I would guess.

Some of the most amazing photos (not mine) have come from the 5D Mark II, I cannot wait to see the upgraded version. I actually laughed when I heard how much a friend paid for one over the T2i and 7D, then I saw the results. It was in another league for sure.

* Have not seen video on it first hand though.

Don't devalue the MKII too fast or too much. I bought mine over a year after it was released. I then sold my old photo only 5D for $1,200 just a year ago. With the MKIII price, used MKII's will still sell well for $1,500-1,800.

So has anyone pre-ordered yet? Almost but probably wait til NAB.
.
Will P5 help categorize difference in camera section between MKII and MKIII by standardizing how the cameras are listed?? Currently artists list the MKII many different ways making a search for a particular camera difficult at best.

They havent standardized any other camera so not sure why they would.

Official price of 5DM2's has dropped $300. Probably won't effect the used market much, I'm still seeing most priced at $1500 to $1800 for body only.

still no one pre-order? Hummm a few too many questions still

I'm excited for it. There will always be better coming out, but looking at it more now I think it would be worth the $1700 'rental' fee :-). The features it fixes/adds are worth that cost. I'm really excited about the lower compression codec possibilities.
