Gene, are you doing ProRes 422 HQ ? LT? I just do the one that doesn't have a setting behind it, ProRes 422
Mizamook 13 Feb 2016 05:49
I use PRHQ. PR422 is "fine" but I like the better stuff. LT is nasty.

I used HQ in the beginning, then went to just PR422. The HQ was much too large and I saw no difference from one to the other.

I can see it (if I look). Damn, if I only had a way to SHOW what I see.

Screen shot it or do a screen capture

I'll try to cobble something together. Been fighting with two machines and iloks and ProTools and new instruments that don't work and crap like that today and not getting much done. If Miraizon is yet on my other machine maybe I can illustrate it.

Looking at that program now, and it has an asterix behind the ProRes.

*Support for different input and output formats depending on libraries installed in the system. Please see tech specs for more information

So im hesistant. Also, will stock footage of mountains earn me back those 130 bucks compared to just delivering 4K H.264/5? I doubt it.

Edit: Decided to export with H.264 for now, and see if my footage will actually sell. Can afford the risk of 70 bucks more expensive later on.

I don't think it will have ProRes. Apple only licensed the "real" ProRes to The Foundry Nuke and RED Cine on Windows. You can use Avid DNxHR for 4K footage directly from Resolve on Windows but no agency accepts it yet.

I use Sony XAVC I for 4k 10 bit capture, editing, intermediate and storage as its robust and half the size of Pro res. No good for uploading to stock sites though unfortunately.

Good read on xavc at RedShark here: http://www.redsharknews.com/technology/item/2080-ten-reasons-to-like-sony-s-pro-video-format,-xavc

Heck, it probably doesn't matter since I think all the agencies convert our ProRes, PJPEG etc to h.264 to sell to buyers.
