A quick note about "instant review" - Having discussed that issue with Tom and Dana in Vegas last week, there is and always has been an instant review process here at P5. However, if the footage is not worthy of instant review don't bother the poor curators. But if you have something that needs to be on the 6'oclock news.... send an email (sitemail) to the curators. They will process specified clips immediately in such cases. But please don't abuse this facility.

Many sites do not understand the "fair use" and copyright laws. Editorial does not need a byline and when in a public space with no expectation of privacy almost anything is fair game. Heck it's even legal in many cases to use someone else photo or art and manipulate it or include pit in a derivative work and fair use allows it. If a Ford happens to drive by a public road while I'm videoing there is no copyright violation. Now if I use the Ford blue oval as the main theme or subject then there is a problem. Same for the Golden Arches way down the public street, If it's not the main subject and it's in public view no problem. P5 understands this. Makes it so much easier for everyone. Many other top sites have chosen not to use fair use or public view principals, that is their chose but they lose a lot of income every day. Editorial is a wonderful world, when P5 labels a clip editorial the buyer is fully aware of it's limitations, it's now the buyers problem. P5 is the best in all regards.

I've always wondered that. "Incidental" views of copyrighted works should be acceptable as non-editorial. But, I think some agencies are more worried about lawsuits than practical and legitimate uses of some clips.

Vadervideo - Good to know that an instant review is available! I hope members will never abuse this option. Holtocw was in Haiti but his videos were online to late. Now he is somewhere in Afghanistan. I hope he reads your thread.

Hey, that's great. And I wished I could have gotten the Haiti videos up quicker, but actually we've made thousands selling them since January, so I guess it wasn't too late after all!
Still, I'll most likely be using this option in the future. But I promise not to abuse it!
