I can't see how P5 content won't end up on SS. Hopefully we will be given an opt-out option. If not, it will be time to hit the highway for a lot of P5 contributors, I'm sure.

The SSTK letter from Oringer stated that there would be separation and things would continue as is at least for the next few months. At least I can pay off my new computer I guess. If the fears many of us have become real, then it definitely is game over, and the backlog of footage I've been holding off processing (the new computer will help make that a nice experience instead of a tedious one) would be a waste of time. I don't know.

But Shutterstock, as we know, is the sweatshop of stock. I really want nothing to do with them. Their money stinks, even in tiny piles.

Anyone who has sold direct to production companies knows the value of their footage. $300 for a few seconds is NORMAL.

If you look back at when SS took over BigStock, they did leave them be for a long time and did provide a bridge you could opt into to have your content ported to SS. They are now a lot more integrated into SS but still have maintained their site layout and commission levels 38 cents for standard sale not the 10 cents of SS. So there is an outside chance there will be independence for who knows how long.

FYI I did suspend my video port at SS.

@DogPhonics "..the real question is will these two platforms merge content and / or will Pond5 content exist independently of SS?"

From SS's investor relations presentation regarding the P5 purchase:

Integration Plan
■ Pond5 will remain a standalone brand focusing on video and music
■ Content will be integrated across platforms
■ Aggressive pursuit of Editorial business leveraging Shutterstock’s sales team and
Pond5’s Editorial video capabilities

I wonder what will happen to photos (a.k.a. "stills"), though. My guess is that they will eventually become available on SS for pennies.

Not a big deal for me as I only have a couple of hundred "test images" here and can easily remove them. Those with 1000's of images on P5 might feel a bit differently, though.

I just left SS .... because they were selling my stuff for 67 cents ..... I guess this business has come to an end .... If I see my stuff selling again for pennies I will close my account. I is not worth it. Selling my stuff for pennies is like slave labor .... I feel betrayed by P5 after more than 10 years in this platform.

■ Content will be integrated across platforms

That point means we will see now frequently sales under 1$. Just wait and see what a disaster is that SS took over P5.

Just when things looked like they couldn't get any worse...

So at what point do we just delete all our content from Pond5? Painful move, I realize, but there's no point in our keeping our content on P5 if it's SS pricing. That is, delete before it becomes impossible to do so, which is a real possibility

I have a ton of videos that I was waiting to upload that now I'm not going to, there doesn't seem to be any point

@PCDMedia - thanks for the link, interesting read.
What might this mean:
"Pond5’s larger concentration of creative
enthusiasts will benefit from Shutterstock’s
creative editing and workflow offering (Create)"??
