Yup, they need to do something but the answers are not easy if they truly want control. This market is much bigger than remote control airplanes in dollars. They need to give more time for the special interest groups to send more political money to campaigns.

Quadcopters in the "bad news" section again:
"U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer called on the federal government Friday to release what he dubs "much-needed rules" for the use of unmanned drones in light of two recent instances of drones encroaching into Westchester County Airport airspace."
http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/Drone-Airplane-Airport-Westchester-County-New-York-City-Helicopter-FAA-Regulation-Chuck-Schumer-288824181.html
Royal Canadian Mounted Police: "The RCMP is concerned about terrorists getting their hands on off-the-shelf drones to target critical infrastructure and VIPs, internal documents show."
http://o.canada.com/news/national/rcmp-worried-about-possible-terrorism-threat-from-drones-documents-show
"NORAD, will launch a giant drone-hunting blimp over Maryland’s Aberdeen Proving Grounds just east of Washington D.C. The system includes a 242-foot balloon (technically called an aerostat because it’s connected to the ground) that can stay up for a month at a time and a radar to detect — among other potential threats— drones."

Ever wonder why the mass "cop-mind" hates cameras in the sky? Think it relates to this idiocy?
Yup, me too.
Can't have overt as well as undercover government agencies getting caught red-handed being underhanded. It would undermine their control over the underdog. They are so scared of this new level of exposure that they need to change their underwear.

Think the use of the word "hoovering" was a typo or funny pun?
I like the catapult idea better.

not sure if it was mentioned anywhere in the 9 pages of this, but there is a southpark episode about drones. It was pretty funny :-)

I'm so out of touch. After looking up the Southpark stuff (which is always a hoot) I learned the term "drone boning" which, if I misspeld, would be more accurate: "Drone Boring"
Jeez.
And for all you all who are worried about a drone flying past your window, the pervs get better pics with a telephoto, and they've already done with your image what you're worried about, so you might as well relax.

Now I know where my uncontrolled fly-away DJI Phantom went. It took six months but finally crashed into the White House lawn. ;).
So this is why there needs to be regulation. Some idiot last night flew his drone and it crashed or landed inside the White House fence. If it was a DJI the operator can use the excuse that it was an uncontrolled fly away. I haven't seen what model or make it was. This will really crank up the pressure on the industry. Idiot flyer and maybe manufacturer.
