Just wondering if others could comment on the value of a clip like this. Message on LCD screen is programmable to say anything. Thanks in advance for any input

I'd say yes, of value and interest. Neat thing. How you price it, tag it and what variety of messages you put will be interesting to see.
Maybe leave the cursor blinking a little longer at the end too.
Put a Valentine's message in, quick! It's uber-romantic! (for a geek)

Sure it has value. You've got a real gem there for lots of nerdy types looking for video clips they can use. Did you make this yourself, buy it as a kit, or rip it out of something?

Gentlemen, Thanks for the input. I've got a bunch waiting for approval (and yes Valentines is one of them but might not get accepted in time). I've got a few presidential messages as well (nothing vulgar, yet) but not sure if political topics will be accepted.
This is an engineering development kit that can be programmed from the PC by downloading it with firmware.
What looks better, the text typing styled format or the scrolling marquee format? Like this

The scroll looks choppy and is too fast for my tastes. I prefer the typed message. It makes it look more personal that way. And it means you could market "typos" too :)
Can this kit or one like it handle some form of shapes and animations?

It may handle extended ASCII character set. Its a 2x16 (2 rows, 16 characters each) based system not a pixel matrix so any animation is limited to printing special characters to a location, erasing and moving cursor to new location. I'm sure there are other kits with more sophisticated LCD displays

I like it myself, very cool idea for sure!
