KEY WORDS FORMAT

Keywords, keywords and more keywords.. the real problem is not how many keywords, but how many irrelevant keywords that make potential buyers frustrated. For example - if you type in a simple keyword in the search - let's say "food" - look at the results - some of the top results have absolutely nothing to do with food. That is what we should be focusing on, as this is an actual problem for buyers.

if you want to put the breed and the pasture, thats fine, if the buyer searched those things the relevance would place that clip at the top. I still think people who put a lot of keywords should be on notice somehow.

But some of the concepts I see are really vague...how is a "business" concept have anything to do with an apple?

I do believe some concepts may be out of my cultural understandings...for example in china, key locks are symbols of luck. If you put "luck" in the keyword, some other artist may think thats absurd.

I'm with you Vader. P5 needs to put in a feature to report keyword misuse like other sites have. Enforcement of keyword abuse penalties is probably the only real advantage that other sites still have over P5.

I f you remember there was a graphic artist who had some 300 clips with over 40 keywords and most were irrelevant to the subjects posted. He had to clean up his portfolio and today it looks great with less than 25 keywords.

Are keywords ranked from first to last in importance?

I don't know that either but other sites do have the search ranked on first to last so I do that anyway.
If they don't now but start at some point in the future, just do it and get ahead of the game.

P5 should be reviewing the keywords during approval. I have no problem with letting them delete irrelevant words or send it back for artist to change. I don't think we need 50 words, maybe 30. I agree 25 is a little limiting on a few clips but 30 would be more than adequate for any clip.

I am glad to hear that guys, it's time to reevaluate the maximum number of keywords. How does the interaction with ExifTool deal with excessive number of keywords?

Our buyers don't read keywords. They would probably appreciate a good description instead. Search engines like Google don't use keyword tags either, they provide relevance by the context of the page content. And for the artists, maintaining both a description and keywords sections is a duplication of effort. My vote would be to rid P5 of keywords and just use descriptions.
