If you find yourself drooling, is it OK to keep working?
Who is the wise guy at Adobe that decided that once a rotobrush base frame is set, it's impossible to delete or modify it so that in order to undo it one has to effectively start over if you want to redo that section?
Tutorials up to my ears, but they all leave out the good info, and without enough knowledge, it's hard to ask the right questions!
Aaaaaagh!
That is all.

If anyone cared to tell me why the Refine Edge does not propagate from one frame to the next I'd be eternally grateful. I draw it, adjust, move on, and it just disappears.
Sometimes. Other times it works fine for several frames.
Yes, I do have the segmented rotoscoping basic mask work done all through the clip. As per instructions I am now going through with refine edge.
This time I've saved the session as " Working title before refine edge" so in case I need to start over I don't lose my whole mask.

OK, on this last question I'm leaving the post up to help the next innocent nincompoop who might not have the info - the little arrows are crucial! I just realized that the propagation happens only in the direction of the arrows, which alternate back and forth with each segment. Little arrows at the bottom, indicating direction of propagation of BOTH initial path and refine edge.
Nice of all the tutorials NOT to mention this! "Oh, by the way, if you want to..."
Golly.

No, I retract that last part, at least to the point where it makes sense "a little bit" but not all the way, as there are always several frames where NO propagation occurs, near the base frames. Setting the refine edge mask AT a base frame works sometimes in both directions, other times, I am required to redraw the whole thing.
I've only been working on this one mask for the last 13 hours. I'm not frustrated or anything. I wish it made sense.
