Tips for new contributors

SkywardKick 1 Mar 2017 20:36
So a few friends and I who have been shooting stock for a while now have noticed there are a lot of questions about the whole stock business that get asked over and over again on this board from new contributors so we've decided to put together a youtube channel where we're going to cover the basics of getting started, and also do things like gear reviews, agency spotlights and industry news.

We've got a few videos up now, and thought I'd post a link in here - check it out and let us know what you think. Toss us a subscribe and we'll be real psyched!

What's the point?
Getting more competition?

The point is that there are tonnes of people joining the industry and instead of selfishly guarding information that they're going to figure out anyways (it's not rocket science) we're trying to pay it forward.

internet is a strange world.... in the real world to learn a job you need to go working underpaid.... here the magic happens for free or few adds on....it reminds me off a book that came out few years ago...
good luck,i wish you billions of views....:))

Competition makes you stronger.

@Sebolla, Curious to know which book you're referring to?

I'm very appreciative of the mentors i've had over the years. Some aren't as fortunate in their surrounds, yet still want learn. Big ups!

Been thinking about doing something like this .. more on the gear reviews side, as I'm a picky bastard, and no yes man to companies that really need to work harder to earn my love (and $$$$).

No reason not to do it ... competition keeps us working, keeps us honest, educates the folks who wanna get into it, which enriches the field, makes us think and grow, and hell, might make you a few bucks over time with views and maybe some sales. It's a lot of work .. (that's why I'm writing on P5 forums instead of talking to the YouTube realm) ....good luck!

Yep .. plenty of books and tuts out there ... nothing barring serious future stock producers from getting into it if they are serious .. and if they aren't ... well .. they drop out soon anyway.

Gave you guys a sub, nice work Sky!

Yup if you've got your sh%^ together and head screwed on you embrace competition - it pushes you out of a comfort zone to do new and exciting things to try and be better than the rest.

Exactly EarthUncut! Thanks for that.

What a nice idea, as someone who's relatively new to this hole stock thing, getting started I noticed people can be a bit rough to new comers on the forums, nice to see someone who's a lot more open, just started a videoblocks account!
