24p? or 30p? in 2018

Let's talk about this dead horse again in 2018. My perception is that more people are moving to 24p or 24p is generating more sales. In the artist resources page there are no statistics about what frame rate sells more or is more in demand.
A look at "BEST THIS MONTH" shows that 24/25p wins by a large margin. I counted 38 clips for 30p and 89 clips for 24/25p clips. News worthy clips (riots, politics. etc.) were mainly 30p. 30p seem to dominate animations. Found two 50p sales and no 60p sales. Few years ago when I did the same survey, 30p was dominant in sales.

Is this the new trend or is it just my perception and not real. Shoot a version in 24p and another in 30p?

Na, I will still shoot 30 fps or 29.97. If the end user wants jerky or more of a stuttering look then can drop some frames and get the basic same feel. Those who want a more fluid smooth look can have it.

Coming in late on this...

For what it's worth, I have shot some clips at both 29.97fps and 23.98fps. These are things like a babbling brook in a forest, or a butterfly flitting from flower to flower. If it is something that gives me the time to shoot it twice, I will often try and get it at both frame rates.

Looking at clips that I've downloaded from Pond5 and used in a video, 24fps footage edits perfectly with 30fps material, and I can not tell the difference when it is rendered to 30fps. Perhaps it depends on the nature of the scene in the 24fps clip -- sports shots might look more juddery than a shot with gentle movement.

This article should answer all your question as to why:

60fps will be the new normal in a few years. Shoot the highest frame rate possible.

I am also debating between shooting new footage either at 2K @ 30fps or 1080p @ 60fps.

Most of the footage here is at 1080P @ 30fps. So I think either of those to format will help you standout but then again maybe there is not enough demand for 2K or 60fps footage. Only way to be sure is to actually upload.

There is a big difference in quality between 4K, 2K, and 1080p. Many shooting 4K leave it as 3480 x 2160 and let P5 down-rez it to 1080 while others upload both 4K and 1080. While 2K cannot be down-rez to 1080 but it still has more quality if you wish to crop the video than you could with 1080 footage. Here at P5 there over 4millon 4K clips while there are less than 10 thousand 2K clips online. So it all depends on what you want or can afford in the way of equipment.
