Sad Day ... tried to help

Saturday morning I received a call from the County Sheriff office and Search and Rescue. Friday night late at night a man who had been drinking and taking prescription drugs got in a fight with his wife and left the home. It was a very cold and rainy night. He did not take a car and was presumed lost in the foothills about 8 miles from my home. I was asked to fly my powered parachute in the area since it was very rugged and limited access by ATV and walkers. I flew for about an hour before the rain and wind picked up making me land for safety. Again at about 4:30 pm I was again asked to fly since they were very concerned at this point. After about a half hour flight an ATV found him on the edge of the mountain; dead. If only we could have found him in the morning he would have survived. We did all we could due due to the weather. Glad to have been able to help, sad that we didn't succeed.

Tragic episode Don, you did what you could and that's the main thing. Some people would not have bothered.

Maybe he did not want to be found....maybe he wanted to go that way....you did your best.
