Nature Clips

Pond5 will no longer approve any of my nature clips because they say they no longer need this subject matter. So I thought I would edit my last rejected clips together in this short video. For best viewing select HD and 1080p.

You make jokes? That are very beautiful clips!

Fine work as always, Mark - it's a sad day when such is cast aside.

Thanks. The sad thing is I sell a fair amount of these type clips and my newer stuff is much better than my skill level a couple of years back. I sold a couple of these rejected clips to an advertising firm in Germany a few days ago so no splitting the profits with Pond5.

Sell them directly, no split commission. The best way. They are perfectly shot.

Beautiful clips Mark, they should definitely be approved here! May I ask how the German advertising firm found you, or did you reach out to them? From a personal website, Vimeo clip, etc.?

I agree, this is a beautiful set of clips.

Now, my technical question: your slider shots are as smooth as the waterfall. Do you shoot with hand-pushed slider, or a motorized one? I found one (not purchased yet) that I can add a motor later as time and budget permit. Is a motor mostly only useful for time lapse? Thanks.

The German advertising firm found me through Vimeo. I have had several sliders over the years. A DIY motorized slider built on an Igus rail with servo driven belt. This was to heavy to lug around but gave great results. An Ifootage Shark slider with flywheel which was a high quality piece of gear that produced buttery smooth slides. Again too heavy to carry far. I now use a Rhino carbon rail manual slider that I got cheap on a model closeout. This unit is very light and gives smooth slides without too much effort.

My rejected clips video "Exploring Pocket Creek" video will be shown this week in Las Vegas at the NAB 2016 Grass Valley Edius demonstration.
