Does nature footage sell?

I am thinking of taking 4k videos of nature - forests, villages, animals and etc. Do footage like this sell well in pond5 and the other video websites? Also I will be taking these mainly in Eastern European countries and Indonesia.

Has to be rare or unique to make any decent money these days - that category is already hugely represented.

Probably they need more 4k videos on this, I see a lot of the videos are HD only.

Simple answer: No and No again

If I had a chance to go back to Indonesia I'd shoot video of where/how they chain up the elephants or the way they hit them on the skull with a pick hammer when they don't obey the trainer, the people in their every day lives like when they block the roads when people get married or die. I'd take video of people in their different formal outfits, close ups of the fabrics and the things they attach to them. I'd take video of the pollution and the poverty. I'd take video of the street food stalls and how they prepare the Sate Kambing or Nasi Goreng. I'd somehow find a way to get back on the ferry between Sumatra and Jakarta and get video of the river of garbage that flows between the two islands for as far as the eye can see in both directions. I'd take video of the different foods in the regular restaurants that middle class people go to. I'd take videos of the way a two lane road suddenly has three minivans and four motorbikes at its breadth when the traffic light turns red. I'd take video of the many different fruits that you can find there. I'd get a driver and take video of the people washing their clothes in the streams while someone else is bathing or washing dishes. I'd get some little girl to make me little tiny rice baskets for making sticky rice and shoot video of that.

There's so much more to Indonesia than the nature - I hope you get some ideas from that.

Don't be afraid to follow what you love, but also, do not expect huge sales - there is much competition ... as you work, chase the unique, and if possible, also try to tell a story of the location, the history, the effect of human population, the interaction, also if you can put people doing things in your nature scenics. Show the animals in as many aspects as possible, both in natural settings and also in situations changed by the challenges many face, be it pollution, hunting, habitat loss, or even when benefited by people. It is sometimes hard to do and be genuine, but important.

Be honest with your work, express what you are seeing, be artful, and understand that even people making "people" and "trends" videos also have hard times. Do not be afraid to price your work also ... if it is rare or hard to get, there is no reason you should not expect to be paid well for your service.

In my town where I live there are a lot of places which look like this, but I am not sure if buyers will be interested in something like this. Probably there are already a lot of videos like this.

There very well may be, Skywalker ... but that looks great, and you should do it. No reason NOT to do it, but, variety is key. Some shots won't sell for ages and then suddenly will. Others never will. If you are lucky, some will sell a lot. Don't worry overmuch about what you see online, or what people say (except as general guidelines, especially since they have experience) but understand that your mileage WILL vary, and all you can do is shoot everything, and then some, upload and tag accurately, and hope for the best.

Thank you for the positive replies, the nice thing is I can shoot various things, I travel a lot, there are a lot of different things, it just takes time but I have it. I am also thinking to upload videos in youtube, but is it possible that someone who wants to buy from pond5 will check there and just download it for free there?
