Hey has anyone else experienced black missing frames in their footage? I seem to be getting the odd black frame in the middle of a recording. very annoying. Is this a know issue or do i need to send it in?

@ Stopped_clock:
Since Android update Nougat and also with firmware updates some people have different problems, but mostly it's the app which freezes or becomes a black screen. The reasons are not clear to identify, but it's not the bird. To become closer to solve a problem at first you must note a clear definition of it.
For example:
Is it the footage of the SD card or is it the files which are stored in your smartphone. Is your bird controlling well by your controller, is it only the app which doesn't work well, ....................
Here in Germany we have a DJI Facebook forum for such discussions which is a great help (or not) ;) I think that's the best way to be informed about actual experiences.
If your black frames happend shortly between 21.-23.04. the Kp-Index can be the reason. That's an index about magnetic storms. I read that these days auroras could be visible up to the north of Germany.
Last not least it's a long experience curve to go out of problems. The most common and major rules are:
1) Smartphone must be in "Flight mode / offline mode" by flying.
2) Many people say the left standart cable causes problems and to use the downside big usb port cable avoids disconnections.
3) Flying near electric cables, installations or else can cause problems.
Also local interferences or what else can cause problems. For example, in La Palma i had fucking problems with steady app disconnections and often my app didn't start / open. First after taking off the ND Filter of the gimbal cam it worked again, but not in my hotel room near the TV or refrigerator. Back home in GER absolute no problems.
Things can be so curious :()

The drone performs perfectly no problems flying or with the controller, no connection issues at all i always fly with my phone in flight mode.
The problem is with the actual video files on the SD card, when i'm sat at home reviewing/editing at the computer.
Some clips will have single black frame just pops up, sometimes ruins the clip depending where it appears.
Couldn't find much on the forums about it just one guy seems he sent his in so i guess i'll do the same. :(

Good point!! I'm still running the one that it shipped with.
I'll try a faster card and report back. Thanks for the advice :)

Kinda digging the +1 sharpening. Much less mush. Really gentle Gaussian blur re-naturalizes things.
Also Mavic being small, cute, and really quiet compared to the P4P enabled me to approach huge flocks of skoters ... very skittish birds .... maybe if I stick a big orange beak on the front they will be even more comfortable with it.

Had a large bird attack mine a couple days ago. Out about 2,000 feet around a mountain peak. A black flash across the screen then about 20 seconds later it flew in front of the camera. I hurried and flew it home. I was in very rugged mountains and if it went down there would have been no chance of recovery.

Wise response ... lucky day. Too bad no shot. I wonder if these with folding props would actually go down though ... if it was a big raptor and it decided on Mavic=food and grabbed it, probably would let go pretty quick as the props attacked the legs/talons ... (poor bird!) but I'm kinda thinking the Mavic might fare better since the props would fold instead of shatter ... not that I'm gonna try any of that. Noticed the ravens around here like the Mavic but do not even come close to the Phantom. They danced with the Matrix ... I guess they like big dark whirlybirds ...

Look at this one. I was sure the bird will take it down, so it looked from the far because he direct took course to the Mavic. So i stopped to avoid feigning to escape. Unfortunately the record is unsharp. I was just started from a mountain road and in case of the clouds the camera was still not focussed as it should. Rendered with 50% speed to see more of the bird.

That's a really nice one! I bet it sells.
Best I've got is this - I tried to slow it, but looked bad ... harrier hawk swoops by at 0:26 (Typhoon H)
