I could really use a timer display for the duration of clips as I'm recording, or am I missing something?

I own 3 sony cameras (including the AX100) and I don't see a timer for any of them while recording, and they all have nearly identical interfaces.

I haven't seen a timer yet either. Seems every clip I take I'm counting to myself.
I used the smartphone app today, kinda basic but start, stop, movie, photo and zoom works great.

The timer is on the display page, which goes away unless you switch the Auto Display to Off. Courtesy of bakdc 22 Jun 2014 08:21
"Just updated to 2.0, though it took forever to find the USB cable! (had to go to the manual, end even then...) Who knew there even was one.
Mizamook, there is a setting to keep the info display from disappearing -- it's in the Setup Menu/display settings."

Yep, timer appears in top right hand corner when display on.
I also have just connected my iphone - for the zoom and switch on function.

miz, how can you tell when you are in 'digi zoom' mode? or if you have it enabled

It's part of the stabilization menu. If you select the highest stabilization I think you get 18x zoom for 4K and 24x zoom for HD.

I've noticed the "Clearvid zoom" or whatever changing when I change stabilization on/off, but not really paid attention to it, as it doesn't seem to affect what I want from the camera. The zoom indicator in the display will have a center line in it if digital zoom is enabled. Up to the middle, it's optical zoom, past that mark is digital. Again, I keep it enabled to use as a telescope, not for recording. If I'm at max telephoto on a subject and happen to car about it, I do make sure I'm not in digital zoom because it makes me sad later.
