These off brand batteries present no problem to me (they take several charges to come up to full capacity). I prefer these small ones rather than a big one as it keeps the camera lighter and smaller which is the point. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-NP-FV50-Batteries-Charger-for-Sony-HDR-CX330-CX900-PJ340-PJ540-PJ810-AX100-/301003196821?pt=Batteries_Chargers&hash=item4615304995
One of the beautiful things about this cam is it really doesn't need any accessories, and is therefore quite suited for run and gun. There is a wide angle adapter I've heard has good effect, but I'm not feeling I need to complicate this kit.
Camera, case, lens care, batteries- GO!

I would use only Sony original batteries. Other ones can cause problems esactly when you don't need those, for examples in holidays, and destroy your camcorder. Have had such experiences with an earlier Sony and no-original batteries. That's a lesson!

More about this the AX100 needs an external mikrophone. The internal is very wind sensitive :(

Never purchased a name brand battery as a spare for anything. Nor have I ever had a problem with any battery/camera combination (and I use mostly Sony)
Have your bass rolloff (wind sensitivity cut) set to Auto or On? It helps a lot. (but you lose bass frequences) Onboard is fine for ambient, but gotta be careful about handling noise. Of course you could carry a Zoom HN4 or similar, or plug real mics in, but jeez, there goes the fast easy small aspect.

@ Beckhusen Having used a similar charging setup for a Panasonic Camcorder, I purchased an unbranded recharger with mains unit, cigarette charger connector. It came with a NP-FV50, in addition I purchased an unbranded NP-FV100. Although the build quality of the charging gear isn't the best, it is functional and working well with no problems.
I get out and about on my motorcycle to film (it means I can stop in silly places), and have a a cigarette lighter connector on-board that allows me to charge batteries while on the move. Again the batteries have never presented any problems.
Built in mics are never any use, that goes without saying. I use a Rode Stereo Videomic. It's excellent, I've never use it for Stock Video so I can't supply you an on-line example. However, it picks up audio with really good clarity. It's a stubby thing, designed for DSLR's so that it doesn't invade the shot, I'd recommend it. I also use a Zoom H1 which lacks the build quality of it's bigger brother, the H4N, but it's light and portable and will provide you with two channels of audio.
As Miz says, the spontaneity of getting the shot is lost with all this clutter, but if you want a tool kit, this gear works well.

@OP <<I get out and about on my motorcycle to film>>>
Great idea - I have started to get some exercise on my bike. I first thought of taking a monopod but the head makes it cumbersome. I now use a bean bag rested on the handlebars. Just wondering if you have any tips for steadying the camera when out and about on your motorbike.
PS I notice you are not far from me - I'm in Cheshire.

When i spend nearly 2000.- for a camcorder, why should i go in the risk with unbranded batteries, only to safe some few bucks?
Never having had problems doesn't delete thr risk, especially when you buy ebay batteries which comes from China! Of course if your home multimedia store offers non-original batteries you may lower the risk, but last not least if there comes a damage to the camcorder you loose your warranty, ... and surely all of us have at any time read in the news what dangerous things can happen with unbranded batteries! Especially the batteries can cause very bad damages (even originals), so why to save some few money at the wrong end?
About microphone:
Bass rolloff or not isn't at last the solution. Maybe audio is well, or is not. At my previous Sony camcorder XR550VE i had mounted a liitle cheap external micro for DSLRs and else at the (flash shoe? / don't know how to say in english) with an adapter. So no problems with spontan getting shots. At the Ax100 the (flash shoe) has another size and as it seems no adapter for standart sizes is available. That means only the original Sony microphones ECM-CG50 or ECM-XYST1M are possible in the moment. I'm not really sure which one will the better one for my needs.
I also have a Zoom H1 which offers fantastic clear audio, but to be true, it's well for basic atmosphere sounds like the nature at a special place and/or season, but audio and video are not in sync.
As P5 offers us the possibility to offer videos with including audio i think especially those scenes where a buyer cannot include external buyed audio (which must be in sync) to get a original sound, it's better to load up audio-included videos. If the buyer don't need the audio he can delete it. Only if audio is really bad, not important for the scene, or if there are for example crying kids in the near i always delete it before.

@VideoStock50 I use an old hero 2 on my bike at the moment. I always carry a bean bag, and have a carbon fibre giottos tripod and fluid head, it has it's limitations, but it's light and collapses down to about half a meter. I have a Kriega ruck sack that has two sturdy adjustment loops on each side and having locked everything off, I can slip one of the legs into that which makes travel pretty comfortable.
I would like to have a play with mounting the AX100 at some point, not gone into it in much detail yet, if you check out http://cameragrip.co.uk and search "Clamps & Mounting Brackets", they have quite a few solutions on there.
Just up the road, I keep meaning to get up the Manchester Airport to do some shots, I have a mate whose I pilot there, he knows one or two sites around the area that are good view points.

OP: Thanks for your detailed response on your carrying method. I must have a look at a rucksack solution and a lightweight tripod - otherwise I'll be getting more exercise than I was intending ;-)
I'll checkout cameragrip. Thanks.
On a side note I bought an H1 a few weeks ago but haven't got round to using it yet. I suppose syncing can be done by matching it up in the NLE to the camera audio then deleting the camera audio. Is that how most people do it?

@VideoStock50 When syncing your audio, just clap your hands or a whistle while your camera is rolling and it will but a noticeable mark on your audio track, that you can work with in your NLE. It's basically like using a clapperboard when shooting a film.
